LEE SU-FEH & BENOÎT LACHAMBRE CO-TEACH
upcoming classes:
Aug 21-25, Way Out West
Mascall Dance

"INFLUENCE"
Recently, during 'Body Scan'’s co-creation process, Benoît and Su-Feh developed a most singular approach to co-teaching; both protagonists orienting their teaching in accordance to eachother's terms, while keeping their stylistic and kinetic singularities.
In their intensive workshop, titled 'Influence', we will explore the junction of Lee and Lachambre's respective pedagogical methods which include visualization, body alignment and sensorial awakening through multiple body-centre motivations. We will also explore the development of a process accompanied by Qigong exercises and several other methods related to martial arts.
This rare opportunity to see, through co-teaching, reflected myriad ways of how relating internal and external sources will deepen our comprehension of sensations, intentions and attention to ourselves and others.
SU-FEH'S CLASSES
upcoming classes: sometime in July 2011, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Observing and Adjusting
Using a somatic approach, this class proposes that through an inquiry into sensation, we can discover and map out the spaces in and around the body to reveal a space that is sentient and in partnership with the body.
The work uses breath and imagery - twin tools found in both contemporary somatic techniques as well as traditional qigong methods - to address resistances and blockages while honouring the interconnectedness of the whole body. Special attention is placed on the role and fuction of curves and spirals, as both strategy and landscape of the dancing body.
Participants can expect a range of experiences - from simply lying on the floor breathing to more formal qigong exercise - to take them into dance that comes merely from observing the sensations n their body and adjusting with and around those sensations.
DAVID'S CLASSES
no upcoming classes for the moment, but life is long..
*Systema for Sissies. Bogus *Bagua . *Martial Arts (my way)
*Note: in this class you will not learn any of these forms that I have cribbed from over the years. You will be engaged to explore my take on these life arts and the concept of Sui Ji Ying Bian, both as a performance functionality guide and as a basis for developing a (my) performance aesthetic. The class will involve sweating, repeating, text, fear, excitement and some boredom.
The class will also serve as the development process for my next performance work, whatever that may be.
Sui Ji Ying Bian can be translated as: Follow gauge respond transform, or follow lead borrow use.
