"evocative, exciting....Cyclops delivers a sensory assault that jangles, jars and finally releases a dazed audience into the safety of the landlocked lobby."
-The Vancouver Courier
"a state of constant, poetical motion....(an) impressive work"
-The Vancouver Sun
Cyclops is a world with no perspective, peopled by one-eyed men, horse-brides, bird-women, and the aching loneliness of being human.
Drawing upon archetypes from sea shanties, mythology and literature, Cyclops juxtaposes images of the ocean with stories of both personal and mythical rites of passage. Poetic and metaphorical, raucous and lyrical, Cyclops meditates upon man's relationship to the sea, to nature and the violence inherent in much of our human past.
The first draft of Cyclops premiered at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre: February 28 - March 8, 2003. Cyclops is currently being redeveloped for 4 performers. This new draft will premiere in the Spring of 2006.
